Traffic Delays Expected During Cattle Drive in Rifle

Traffic delays are expected as a cattle drive moves through the Rifle area. Rifle Police Department has informed the public that significant traffic issues are anticipated as the herd will be traveling from the west along Highway 6 and will make the right to cross the river bridge along Highway 13. “The cows will travel along (or through) the roundabouts and then outbound on Airport Road on the way to the New Castle area.” The herd is made of 74 cows and they are expected to arrive at Highway 6 at the 87 on Wednesday night. They will push through Rifle beginning Thursday morning and hope to arrive in the Mamm Creek area Thursday evening. Heavy delays are expected on main traffic routes.
