Tonight the community is invited to join in a celebration of changing lives for the better at the Uintah Basin Drug Court Graduation. Drug Court Case Manager Jennifer Nash counts 2021 as a very successful year for the program with all graduates going strong! “The Drug Court Graduates, past and present, have made sweeping changes in their lives,” shares the Drug Court Team. “Your presence at the graduation will mean a great deal to these individuals.” The Drug Court program has the statistics to back up its value sharing that it had 10 graduates in 2021. If these individuals had spent that year in Uintah County Jail, the cost to taxpayers would have been around $144,000 dollars. Instead, these individuals put in hard personal work and each paid a minimum of at least $1,530 dollars to participate in the Drug Court program. And perhaps the best measure of the program’s value is that because those 10 individuals found success with the Drug Court program, there are 14 children that have their parents at home today rather than in prison, in active addiction, homeless, or dead. The first graduation ceremony of 2022 will be tonight at 5:00pm at the Uintah Conference Center and the community is invited to attend or watch live on Instagram at uintahcounty_afdc.
