When it comes to the safety of our children the school districts strive to be prepared and ready for whatever may come. Doing so takes practice and the Duchesne County School District wants parents and the public to know that today they will be conducting an evacuation DRILL at the Roosevelt Junior High School. The district has created a communications plan already that involves sending out regular updates to students and parents through both the internal communications network and the district’s Facebook page. The first message will be sent out at 12 pm, 15 minutes before the start of the drill, and will conclude with the final update at 1:20 p.m. when the drill is completed. This is only a drill but is a very thorough drill. The students will be evacuated from the school and relocated to the Roosevelt West Stake Center nearby. Roosevelt Police officers will be responding to the scene as if an actual emergency took place. A core reason for the drill is to have staff and officers test safety procedures. The students will be back and ready for regular pick up and departure routines at the close of the school day.
