The Rotary Club of Vernal is ready to warm the community this fall and ensure everyone stays warm this winter and they need help doing it. They are collecting donations starting today and ask that the community donate gently used coats and hoodies or consider when they buy a coat for their needs that they buy two and donate one to help support this effort. “The need for coats in our community is greatly underestimated. Many people simply go without,” shares Rotarian Cheri McCurdy. “The Vernal Rotary Club recognized this need and has been overseeing an annual coat drive for 16 years. We realized the need to add hoodies to the drive as many teenagers do not have lockers to store coats and like the idea of wearing a hoodie. We also see this need for coats in the adult community.” McCurdy says there is also a need for Fire Retardant coats for the men that work in the oil and gas fields. The donation drop off is located at Davis Food and Drug in Vernal. All new and gently used coats and hoodies for children, teens, and adults are appreciated!
