Altamont cowboy Dean Thompson continues to deliver at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas where he is competing in bareback riding. Thompson has placed in all five rounds so far. He has earned $87,788 in Las Vegas and sits atop the aggregate race with a five-ride cumulative score of 429.5 points, two and a half better than the field. He felt really good about round 5 and when he got matched with Night Crawler, the 2024 PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year, he knew it was going to be a good round. “I haven’t been on Night Crawler, and she’s been the only one I’ve been craving for two years now,” shared Thompson. “It’s pretty spectacular to get this in Round 5.” He got his 91 points on Night Crawler and his good friend Jacob Lees got 91 on another Bareback Horse of the Year. The friends shared the podium on the 5th round, with each earning $30,155. Congratulations to the Uintah Basin’s Dean Thompson and keep the momentum going!
