A talented performer has stepped into the role of Director for the next Vernal Theatre Live production which opens this Friday. “As my first experience directing, ‘The Nerd’ has been a fun, eye-opening, and unique experience,” shares Justin Benson. “As an actor, I’ve always loved the community you gain in every production with the other cast members, and I enjoy growing as an actor through them. As the director, it’s been a great experience to watch all the actors grow in their skills from day one to where they’re at today. I’ve truly enjoyed it! This cast is amazing. Their relationships off-stage have grown and, in doing so, now compliment their relationships on-stage.” Benson offers the actors high praise, even saying they have made him laugh until he cried while still delivering the show’s deeper message. “In addition to it being hilarious, I believe this show is about relationships,” explains Benson. “No matter how successful we are at what we do in our life journey, it’s not nearly as important as the people we travel through it with.
