Trees for Charity is a great community event that benefits so many. From the chance for the public to see these beautiful trees to the money that they raise for causes it is such a great way to start Christmas. Sometimes in the busyness we don’t get a chance to know the stories behind the trees. Uintah Basin Healthcare recently highlighted the ‘Meaning of Christmas’ tree that raised $4,200 for Brody’s Fund, a fund set up to help provide financial assistance to those who lose their baby in the second or third trimester. Ross and Bridget Watkins created the “Hazel Christmas Tree” in honor of their sweet baby girl Hazel Nelma Watkins. “The hazelnut ornaments were handmade by their family, honoring their angel baby’s first name. The white lights represented her middle name, Nelma, which is Greek for LIGHT. The rose ornaments represent Hazel’s birth flower. The angel garland represents their little angel watching over them. Although Hazel’s passing brought the Watkins family sadness and grief, her life has brought a large measure of light into their lives. They hope that the Hazel Christmas Tree helps share that light with others this Christmas season.”
