Basketball teams completed regular season play and started UHSSA state tournament play last week. The Terra Academy lady Tigers handily won their quarter and semi final games to face Uintah River High School in the Championship game. The Tigers took control early and kept rolling to a 59-28 championship victory. Keira Keel scored 16 points and Jess Mckechnie added 11 to the win. The Terra boys team earned a bye for the first round and beat Uintah River High School on Monday to advance to the Wednesday championship game, facing REAL Salt Lake. The Tigers built an early double digit lead. REAL slowly reeled them back in to eventually tie the game in the last couple minutes. Late in the game Josiah Zenner hit a big three point basket and John Dopp hit some key free throws giving the Tigers a 67-62 championship win. Dopp scored 21 points and Zenner 15 points for the win. Congratulations to both Terra Academy basketball teams on the state championship wins!
