Temporary Green River Tunnel Detour For Just Eastbound Traffic

Another temporary detour is necessary on I-80 in Wyoming related to the Green River tunnel crash. While it has not been shared how long the westbound tunnel where the fatal crash occurred will remain closed, the eastbound tunnel has successfully allowed eastbound and westbound traffic to resume on I-80, providing relief to the town of Green River where all the I-80 traffic was rerouted through initially. Wyoming Department of Transportation announced yesterday that another temporary detour through the town of Green River is necessary today so they can reset concrete barriers in an effort to adjust traffic flow on the crossover at mile marker 90. “Some areas of the crossover have been damaged and crews will need the space to make the repairs,” shares WYDOT resident Engineer Clint Lockman, “so we are adjusting the traffic flow to avoid these areas,” said WYDOT resident Engineer Clint Lockman. Westbound traffic will continue to use the eastbound tunnel while the work is underway so just the eastbound traffic will reroute through Green River. It is expected the work will be done today and once it is, traffic will resume through the head-to-head lanes in the eastbound tunnel.
