Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office has asked the public for help with a livestock poaching case south of Rock Springs. On July 5th, deputies found the carcass of a cow-calf that was dumped in the desert near mile marker 3 on State Highway 430. “It’s believed the animal was likely killed elsewhere before being dumped in the desert overnight,” shares the announcement. “The poached animal is described as a short-yearling male Red Angus cross cow-calf. Its front and rear quarters, as well as its backstraps and tenderloins, were harvested. Its left ear, which is typically pierced with a small tag identifying the livestock’s owner, was also removed.” Anyone with information is asked to please contact Deputy Merkley at 307-705-6708 and note that any correspondence from the public will be handled with discretion.
