The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a public auction of abandoned and
court-forfeited vehicles next week. The starting bid on most vehicles will be $100 dollars
and payments are cash-only. Why is the Sheriff’s Office selling abandoned property? The
public auction only takes place after trying to locate the original owners by posting
notices in public places and publishing about the items in newspapers in accordance with
Wyoming law. While the opportunity is there for a really great deal, the vehicles are all
sold as-is and most of the auctioned vehicles have no keys. The auction is taking place
January 9th at 10am at the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office in Rock Springs. Pickup
for the auctioned vehicles will be Friday, January 12th.
