The suspect in a serious crime committed in the spring has been brought into police custody. Rangely Police Department issued a press release, stating that on April 7th, 2023, a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officer’s patrol vehicle had a window broken and two patrol rifles and other law enforcement gear were stolen from the vehicle. The Rangely Police Department was notified and the investigation immediately began. With the assistance of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, they were able to identify Ethan Langstaff of Grand Junction as the sole suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Last week on September 18th, Langstaff was taken into custody for multiple warrants out of multiple jurisdictions with the assistance of Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. The Rangely Police Department offered appreciation to all who aided in the investigation and thanked the community for being patient during the process.
