Officers located a man accused of rape in a dangerous location on Sunday. Law enforcement responded to a call of alleged sexual battery in West Roosevelt on October 8th shortly after 9pm and the accused was found laying in the middle of Highway 40. When approached, the man admitted to the accusations and he was placed under arrest. During the transport, dispatch informed the officers of a warrant for the man’s arrest. 19-year-old Andrew Chandler was booked into Duchesne County Jail for Sexual Battery, Forcible Sexual Abuse, and an outstanding warrant. Court documents show that in March 2023 Chandler entered pleas of Guilty to Felony Assault on a Peace Officer and Misdemeanor Failure to Stop At Command Of Police and Assault for offenses committed in August 2022. Chandler is being held without bail.
