Officers from nearly every Uintah County law enforcement agency made time for fishing with some very special community members
on Thursday morning
. The Division of Wildlife Resources hosted the ‘Badges & Bobbers’ event at the recently opened Old Fort Ponds in the Maeser area during which local officers helped special needs adults and children try their hand at fishing and many of those that tried, experienced the thrill of catching a fish or two. Sgt. Bryan Clyde from the Division of Wildlife Resources had heard of other agencies around the state having similar events and wanted to help get something going in this region. “I thought this would be a great way to introduce the ponds to the community and to get kids and youth out fishing with officers to give them a good experience with local law enforcement,” shared Sgt. Clyde. “It turned out bigger than I anticipated and we’re absolutely hoping to make this an annual event.” Officers participated from the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Uintah County Jail, Naples City PD, Vernal City PD, Utah Highway Patrol, Adult Parole and Probation, and of course officers from parks and wildlife.
