Christmas may be a magical time for many but for some it can be especially lonely and painful. A group of locals in Uintah County are doing their part to ease the loneliness of elderly community members with the 4th annual Sub for Seniors. “Our Sub for Seniors program is focused on bringing love, warmth, and compassion to the forgotten grandmas and grandpas of the Uintah Basin,” shares coordinator Tiffany Henline. “Many of these folks have empty cupboards and struggle to make ends meet. Our passionate and committed team of holiday-cheer volunteers will be utilizing donations to pack bags with items of need, nutrition, and holiday joy, to warm the hearts of our beloved senior citizens, making a cheery delivery just before Christmas. We want them to know that they are not forgotten, and that their community cares.” New items such as large print activity books, puzzles, and slippers are just a few of the requested items. As the program reaches 4 years running, there has been an overwhelming response from both the seniors and the volunteers who have been able to take part. The first year brought cheer to 75 senior households while this year there are plans to help over 200. All items can be dropped off at the Golden Age Community Center or the New Star Real Estate Office. For more information, call
