Vehicle burglaries and vehicle theft have unfortunately been a growing issue in the region. One recent incident had a relatively quick resolution after calls for medical attention came in from a local shopping center’s parking lot. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers responded to a residence on March 18th on the report of a vehicle theft in Uintah County. Shortly thereafter, officers were dispatched to an ambulance assist at the Vernal Walmart for a call that an individual was slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. “When law enforcement arrived on the scene, they recognized [the individual] and knew that he had active warrants for his arrest.” When approached, 47-year-old Nathan Adam Neal gave officers the name of his brother and tried to mislead them as to his identity. It was also soon discovered that the vehicle he was in was the stolen vehicle reported earlier. Drugs and paraphernalia were found on Neal during the arrest. He was brought in on the warrants and also now has a felony charge for the stolen vehicle and other charges related to drug possession and driving on a denied license.
