People of all ages have memories of walks and water play at Kids Canal and there is still time to participate in an effort to preserve those memories. The Uintah Heritage Museum has been collecting stories, pictures, and even artwork of Kids Canal since last fall. At the time of the original announcement, Library and Museum Director Sam Passey explained that they want people to help by being citizen historians. Visit www.kidscanalstories.org and click on ‘Submit Your Story’. A form opens that will allow you to write a memory, attach photos, art work or even a video. The website also contains an account of the history of Kids Canal, historic photos, newspaper clippings, and art work. The project is thanks to funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the American Recovery Plan. At a recent Library Board meeting, Passey shared that stories are still being accepted and urged everyone to participate.
