Stephen J. Flowers October 29, 1954 – June 27, 2019. Resident of Vernal Utah. After a courageous year with cancer, Steve passed away peacefully at his home in Vernal surrounded by his loved ones. Steve was born and raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School in 1973. He was in many school activities from Concert Choir to writing for the school paper. After high school he also spent some of his time serving in the Marine Corps – Hoorah!
He was one of 7 children raised by David Lee Flowers and Eileen Mable Travis (Flowers). In the 1990’s he was found by a sister he was not aware existed. This brought him a total of 4 more brothers and sisters, his biological father George Burningham and a step mother Millie Burningham that he grew to love just as much. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Flowers for over 43 years. Steve will forever be remembered by his beloved children Stephen Flowers (Kari Flowers), Mandy Hardinger (William Hardinger), Joshua Flowers (Liz Flowers), Andrea Martinez (Kyle Martinez), 17 treasured grandchildren, 2 very loved angel babies, 6 devoted brothers, 2 loving sisters, along with countless nieces, nephews and other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. Steve was preceded in death by father: David Lee Flowers, mother: Elieen Mable Flowers, brother: Kenny Flowers, brother: John (JT) Flowers, brother: Mike Flowers.
Steve loved listening to all types of music, working in the yard because he had the power that he could bring ANY plant or flower back to life, watching football and his nascar races all while eating his famous “Papas dip”. He also loved being with his family, watching his grandchildren grown and play. He loved to go for long drives through the mountains sharing and spending time with his wife that means the world to him. He was a great fisherman and loved a good day of fishing.
Steve could be a little rough on the edges at times and sometimes people didn’t know how to take his personality, but once you got to know him he had the ability to make you fall in love with him with his smile and generosity. And just as we expected he maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. We love you Papa! #flyhigh
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service at the Maeser Fairview Cemetery on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11:30 AM. A viewing will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM at the Phillips Ashley Valley Funeral Home, 410 North 800 West, Vernal UT 84078
