Uintah High School Boy's Baseball

The Uintah Boys baseball team start their state run last week, traveling to Millville by Logan to take on the Ridgeline Riverhawks in a best of three series. Thursday, the Utes started off scoring with Aiden Baltrum singling and then Gage Murray singled to bring him home, but it was all Ridgeline after that as they went on to beat the Utes 17-2.
Game 2 was a different story as Haiden Reary kept the Riverhawks off balance through most of the game, giving up just a couple runs through four innings. In the fourth innings, Aiden Baltrum and Daniel Wright each singled, then Gage Murray walked to load the bases. The Utes worked three more walks to take a 3-2 lead, Riverhawks tied it in the fifth, then each team held the next couple of innings to send the game into extra innings.
Gage Murray started off the Ute eighth with a double, with two outs, Morgan Mansfield singled home Murray to give the Utes the lead.
A walk and hit batsman then a fielder’s choice scored a run for Ridgeline with two out and a runner at second. A single to right had the runner rounding third and Aiden Baltrum gunned him down with a great play at the plate by Gage Murray sent the game to the ninth inning tied at 4.
The Utes loaded the bases, but a pop-out ended the Ute threat and the Riverhawks scored in the ninth to close out the Utes 5-4. Jace Watkins had a couple of great plays at second base to keep the Utes in the ballgame.
