As of the Wednesday report, the Speirs Fire in Daggett County is at 715 acres and has reached 48 percent containment thanks to recent back burn operations. Some closures have been lifted, including the Firefighter Memorial and Green Dale Group campgrounds. Roads and trails still closed to public access include Forest Service Roads 610, 689, 049 which is Green’s Draw Road and several trails. All the existing closures can be found on the Ashley National Forest website. Wednesday’s update also noted that looking forward, increased fire weather conditions continue to be a factor in the suppression of the Spears Fire and monsoonal moisture trends are predicted to enter the fire area on Thursday and continue into the early part of the weekend.
