Slowing down is almost always a good decision and that is now more than a recommendation in Dry Fork Canyon. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday that the speed limit on 3500 West to the Merkley Park Road in Dry Fork Canyon has been lowered to 35 mph. “The county made the decision to lower the speed limit in the lower part of the canyon due to several factors,” shares the announcement. “There is an expected increase in traffic in the area with the new Dinoland Adventure Project at Remember the Maine, the housing density in the canyon, and several blind corners where vehicles frequently enter the roadway.” The average speed in Dry Fork Canyon has been clocked at 56 mph, with a high of 92 mph, according to a speed survey recently conducted by the Uintah County Road Department. The Sheriff’s Office urges all to obey the new change to lower the speeds and keep people safe.
