Another beautiful Veterans memorial featuring the soldier silhouette is under construction at the Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery. Dan Karren, Gary Rohrer and others have spearheaded the effort that began with the large soldier silhouette on the hill above the Cemetery. Gary Rohrer shares that after the large silhouette was installed last year, talk began about doing a memorial down in the Cemetery as a companion memorial. The large soldier can be seen up on the hill while viewing the new site in the Cemetery and that is by design as the new memorial includes information for people to learn about the soldier silhouette and recognize donors. Ultimately, Rohrer says the memorials are there to honor the over 500 Veterans who are buried there. He also says their efforts are to support Roosevelt and hopefully inspire the youth to feel more patriotic and be proud of America. The new memorial is not ready for visitors as there is still concrete work in progress that will take time to cure. So look for it as you drive by but all are encouraged to wait until it’s fully ready for visitors.
