Snow is causing headaches all over and reports from the Duchesne County Public Works Department is likely a common story at this point. Director Ben Henderson reported to the Duchesne County Commission last month that his crews were busy clearing snow from storms as well as from wind blowing the snow onto the roadways. Midway through January he reported that 1500 tons of salt had been delivered with another 800 tons expected and at that point they hoped it would be enough for the rest of the winter season. Fast forward one week and Director Henderson had an updated report for the Commission. The County was now out of salt and the budget was now depleted. His crews had spent yet another week dealing with mass amounts of snow, including white stuff that had to be plowed after another wind event in the Fruitland area. If you’re annoyed next time you need to go shovel your driveway just think of the local county and city road departments and the monstrous amount of snow they’ve dealt with so far.
