Small businesses throughout the community make countless donations throughout the year for local worthy causes and the Rotary Club of Vernal feels it’s time to turn the tables and help these businesses at this difficult time in the local economy. Using their own funds, the Rotary Club is purchasing $8,000 dollars in gift certificates from local businesses that will be the prizes in an 8 week contest to encourage the community to shop local. “We know Wall Street and the banks will get bailed out but Main Street is not going to get bailed out,” shares Rotary member Brian Gorum. “We want to step up to the plate and give back to these businesses and hopefully inspire everyone to help them too.” The Shop Local & WIN! contest works like this: Follow the ‘Rotary Club of Vernal, UT’ Facebook page, like the Shop Local & WIN! post, make a minimum $10 purchase from a locally owned business (Sorry but no franchises!), and then Direct Message a photo of your receipt to ‘Rotary Club of Vernal, UT’ to show your “proof of support”. For Week 1 your purchase must be made and sent between April 6th and 11th to qualify. Entries close at midnight on April 11th and the drawing for the Week 1 winners will be on April 12th.
