Senator John Curtis took another opportunity this week to shine a light on a topic related to the energy industry. The Environment and Public Works Committee of which Senator Curtis is Chairman held a hearing this week titled “Improving the Federal Environmental Review and Permitting Process” during which the Senator emphasized permitting reform as an urgent need to unlock energy development in Utah and across the United States. Senator Curtis guided the conversation which included discussion on geothermal and nuclear energies and the difficulty in getting movement on energy projects. Removing duplicate environmental analysis and streamlining the permitting process was among the discussion during the hearing.
