One pill can kill. Educational campaigns are spreading the word that fentanyl is the deadliest drug threat facing the country. Drug poisonings are the leading killer of Americans between the ages of 18 and 45 and drug trafficking of fentanyl is a serious problem in the region. The All Crimes Enforcement Team in western Colorado is among the agencies focusing on locating fentanyl traffickers and bringing them to justice. Last fall, they reported an arrest in Craig which recovered approximately 580 pills containing fentanyl, among other drugs. The Craig Press has reported a new incident in which arrests were made after a search warrant at the Frontier Apartments on January 25th where 68 fentanyl pills were found as well as methamphetamine. Two of the individuals had large amounts of cash and based on the large amount of pills it was determined the drugs were being distributed. Javier Amaya-Hernandez, Katrina Ramos, and Jose Ricardo Rodrigues Cisneros were arrested and charged with distribution of a controlled substance among other offenses.
