Family time enjoying the Uintas turned into a terrifying experience for one family over the weekend. Summit County Search and Rescue, assisted by Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and other resources, were called in on Saturday, August 10th just after 5:00pm when a 911 call came in that a 14-year-old had been separated from a group and had last been seen at 8:45am. They responded to the Highline Trailhead and teams were deployed onto several different trails. “Nightfall approached and searchers spent the night in the field to be ready at first light to resume searching. At daybreak teams in the field began searching and heard a whistle and someone yelling. They were able to make visual contact with the missing subject and he was picked up by DPS and flown to the trailhead in good condition.”
