The Savage Wellington Transload Terminal has gained attention for its potential to support Utah’s energy market but how far along into the project are they? Phillip Hoskins, Vice President of Business Development at Savage, shares that they have completed the purchase of the 277 acres of land which is zoned for heavy industrial use. The necessary permits to start operations have also been obtained and the terminal engineering and design are complete. Hoskins says what is left is to continue working closely with the railroads to obtain the final design approval. The Savage Wellington terminal will have heated tanks for Uinta Basin yellow and black waxy crude and the infrastructure to ship the oil by rail across North America. Savage’s announcement says that is not all, however, as the terminal will also be capable of handling other industrial bulk and liquid commodities. Among those excited about the project is Rikki Hrenko-Browning, the President of the Utah Petroleum Association. “We remain bullish about the growth of the Uinta Basin, and one of the keys to this growth is the export market,” shares Hrenko-Browning. “We’re proud to have Savage as members, and this project is one of many infrastructure investments we hope to welcome as we look toward the future of the Uinta Basin.”
