The holidays can be a painful thought for families who are worried about just having enough food on the table from one day to the next. For those not feeling the strain of the economy that deep there is a worthy cause to keep in mind now and over the next two months. Santa’s Community Effort is a way to help low income families during the Christmas season by shopping for a local child or making a cash or venmo donation now so the Vernal Rotary Club can do the shopping. “We do not provide their entire Christmas. We help with a couple of items that are needed to help alleviate the overwhelming feeling of the holidays,” shares Rotarian Shannon Reyes. “We do an application process and sit down with the head of household to see how we can help and to make sure the kids’ sizes for clothing and shoe sizes are accurate. We service about an average of 160 families per year. There is definitely a need for the families of Uintah County.” To donate funds now, Venmo @Vernal-Rotary or if you prefer taking a tag, the Angel Tree will be set up at Trees For Charity and at Vernal Davis Food and Drug and Walmart starting December 3rd. Applications for families in need are being accepted until November 15th.
