A resource promoted in the Uintah Basin and across the state is being hailed as a literal life saver. For six years, the SafeUT app has provided a way to connect users to licensed counselors that are ready to listen to any sized crisis or concern. Support is immediate and confidential, and as easy as reaching for your phone and sending that first message. This year the app exchanged one million messages with users in a single year. Working with first responders, SafeUT conducted 349 life-saving interventions. That is a 17% increase from the year before. The milestone of one million messages is not one being taken lightly. Instead, it is being seen as an overwhelming confirmation of the great need for continued access to mental health resources in the state. The people behind the app are there for almost anything that individuals need to talk about. It can be varied as crisis means something different to everybody. Uintah Basin community members are encouraged to download the app for themselves.
