Uintah County Economic Development Director Travis Campbell made a presentation to the Uintah County Commissioners on Tuesday outlining programs proposed to receive funding through a state grant program. The Rural County Grant utilizes $200,000 dollars in funding through the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity. Campbell explained that the program itself has changed over recent years and now the use of funding can be very broad depending on what is trying to be accomplished. Campbell presented a list of 8 local programs proposed for the grant funding which he said shows the wide breadth of efforts currently going on in Uintah County. These programs were administered through the same grant in 2023 and found success so it was proposed that they be continued. The list includes $2,500 dollars for the General Contractor Licensing Course; $15,000 dollars for the Dev Pipeline Computer Coding Scholarship Program; $40,000 dollars for the Business Pitch Competition; $15,000 dollars for the Business Development Committee; $30,000 dollars toward the Small Town Comeback videos and website; $15,000 dollars to develop the Economic Development Strategy; $25,000 dollars toward the Agriculture Expo; and $57,500 dollars for Small Business Micro Grants. The amounts are estimates and the micro grants will utilize whatever funding is leftover.
