Phase 1 of the new Roosevelt Nature Park is nearing completion. Phase I includes the planning, easements, trail construction, bridges, and parking lot, among other features. Phase II includes the construction of a fishpond, additional trail work, restrooms and more. A part of Phase II is underway as the Division of Wildlife Resources has begun digging the pond. Phase III will include the finishing touches and other possibilities, such as a small amphitheater, that depend on additional funding. It is anticipated the project will be complete in the summer of 2024. The Nature Park consists of 1.2 miles of trail within and a 1.25 acre pond with an ADA compliant fishing dock. The pond will be stocked with 5 different types of fish. Features aim to include a pavilion, restrooms, benches, and an amphitheater. The Cottonwood Creek Trail will consist of 2.23 miles of trail with 4 bridges and benches. Elements of the projects had been explored for years but work began in earnest in 2021.
