A Uintah Basin native is a member of the Trump Administration Defense team. Colby Jenkins was born and raised in Roosevelt and grew up in a patriotic home. As a young adult he sought a congressional nomination and gained an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, launching him on a career of military service. He became an airborne Ranger, a Green Beret Detachment Commander, and was selected to initiate a new congressional fellowship program that included graduate school in Washington, D.C. and working in a Senator’s office. He then worked as a Green Beret liaison to Congress, as a counterterrorism policy advisor to the Secretary of Defense before transitioning from active-duty military service to a civilian career in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves while staying active in the legislative arena. Last month, Colby Jenkens took an oath to serve in the Trump administration as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict.
