The storms continue to uproot trees around the Uintah Basin, most recently striking the Roosevelt Golf Course. Volunteers are helping on Thursday morning to move the trees. Anyone able to help is welcome. National Weather Service reports that storms may continue to pop up, causing damage today. “Stay alert for watches and warnings,” shares the announcement. “If you will be out during these storms, be aware of your surroundings and have a plan for where to seek shelter if necessary. Remember, lightning can strike from over ten miles away, and flash flooding can occur even though the storm passed miles from where you are.” Risk for lightning lies between 30 and 60 percent across much of the state through Thursday morning. Remember basic lightning safety: when thunder roars, go indoors!
