Wildfire prevention is an ongoing process and Ashley National Forest has some projects this month focused on just that. They announced this week that the Roosevelt/Duchesne Ranger District plans to conduct burning of slash piles during November or December just off the Argyle Canyon Road east of Highway 191. “The burning will occur once sufficient snow and weather conditions allow,” shares the announcement. “The slash was gathered from landowners in Argyle Canyon and has been stacked in small piles to facilitate burning. Smoke is not anticipated to impact the local area.” Forest officials explain that the pile burning is part of an effort to assist in reducing hazardous fuels from both public and private land as part of wildfire prevention.
