The ‘2018 Municipal Project of the Year’ from the Utah Construction and Design Magazine was awarded to Roosevelt City and Civco Engineering. The award was a result of the efforts given for the State Street project that was completed in September 2018. The project came about because a large portion of the stormwater drainage runs along State Street. Building Centennial Elementary at

and flooding from a 100-year storm in the fall of 2016 lead to the need to put in drainage, roadway, curb, gutter and sidewalk. Roosevelt City Assistant City Manager John Zilles says, “Within the past couple years we experienced what some may call a 100-year flood. Maybe it was a 300-year flood. A flood that you wouldn’t expect to happen in the area, but once every 300 years. We had sandbags all over the place trying to prevent damage to citizens’ houses in this area. Much of this stemmed from a lack of sufficient drainage down this corridor…We believe that this project, with its upsize of storm drain capability has virtually resolved most, if not all, of the risks posed by a similar event in the future.” Congratulations to Roosevelt City and Civco Engineering.
