Roosevelt City took the time during the Roosevelt City Council meeting on Tuesday to recognize the Veterans Memorial Committee for their volunteer service. A Roosevelt City press release detailed that the committee was formed and money was first raised to purchase the 50 flag poles that border the Roosevelt City Cemetery, a project that was dedicated in May of 1996. “During the 25 years, there have been instances of theft of flags, bent flag poles, repainting of poles, cleaning of flags, replacing of flags, and other usual maintenance required,” shares the announcement. “These have all been taken care of by the committee and donations. Roosevelt City wishes to express its overwhelming gratitude to this wonderful group of community volunteers for their service to our veterans. We are proud of the work they have done and grateful to have them in our City.” Further details and a list of current committee members can be found in the press release on the Roosevelt City Facebook page.
