Roosevelt City Police Department has welcomed a new officer with a great nose. Tips, a mixed-breed narcotics K-9, was certified last week with his handlers, Officer Harrison and Officer Knight, and performed exceptionally well. Roosevelt Police now has three K-9s and four handlers, shares Roosevelt Police Chief Rick Harrison. The K-9s are all narcotics trained and are deployed several times each week on Roosevelt cases as well as with other agencies such as Utah Highway Patrol. “The K-9 officers are responsible for numerous cases leading to the detection of illegal narcotics and the arrest of those dealing in illegal narcotics,” shares Chief Harrison. “K-9s are a valuable tool law enforcement has available to help keep our communities safe.” Tips joins Lila, a Belgian Malinois, and Lucy, also a mixed breed dog, on the Roosevelt Police K-9 team. Tips was donated by The Next Level Canine owner Tim Adams.
