Roosevelt City is making good on its word. Their ‘Improve My City’ competition wrapped up just last week having invited the community to enter areas of the city in need of improvement. On Wednesday, the city announced that the winner of the competition was Jon Wilson who suggested getting new billboards to welcome people into Roosevelt City. They also announced that not only did they plan to work on every project idea submitted but that they were already getting started on a number of them. In addition to broken fences and alleyway cleanup, projects to be addressed include repairs to sidewalk at 1700 South, pavement and sidewalk along 800 South near Centennial Elementary, replacing the flag at the walking park, wood chips and adjusting too high playground equipment at Constitution Park, the waterway at 1500 East, sidewalks near East Elementary, and potholes on Gates Drive. With repairs and cleanup already underway, the Roosevelt City staff also met with the Community Impact Board on Thursday and secured over $1.2 million dollars in grant funds for the improvements to 800 South.
