Roosevelt City Council Explores Aquatic Center Fee Schedule Changes

The Roosevelt City Council discussed possible changes to their fee schedule during the City Council meeting last week. No rate changes were approved as this was just a work session but like other municipalities, the council has to consider rising costs moving forward. Aquatic Center Supervisor, Edwin Butterfield, proposed some modest increases to day rates at the Aquatic Centers. There was also discussion of increasing the costs for renting inflatable obstacles. “The current rate does not cover necessary repairs and replacements,” explains Roosevelt City PIO Sunshine Bellon. “The amount that the city needs to pay to keep the Aquatic Center open above what entry fees cover has been continually increasing over the years and is expected to be over $500,000 dollars this year. The intent of the changes being considered is to try and reduce that subsidy, to the extent that is possible, while still ensuring that there is not a financial barrier to using the facility for our citizens.”
