The wonders of having a new library in Roosevelt are being noticed by more than just locals. One great example is that the Utah State Library recognized the Roosevelt Branch Library in its latest blog, emphasizing the impressive amount of community events now being held in the beautiful new facility. Duchesne County Library Director Daniel Mauchley was interviewed for the feature and explained what it means to have a community room that can seat 200 people. “This new $6 million dollar, 16,700 square foot project replaces the old 4,350 square foot Roosevelt Library which was constructed in 1986 by Roosevelt City,” shared Mauchley. “The library serves the largest city in Duchesne County and some next-door residents of Ballard in Uintah County; around 8,000 total residents…Nearly 180 non-library sponsored events have occurred in the library’s community rooms.” The events include “… community groups and classes such as a board game community, a quilting guild, a parenting course, a chess club, service projects, student test prep, local committee, and business association meetings, public meetings, a victim’s advocates group, a venue for major city holiday events, a free eye clinic, blood drives, and more.” What a great contribution to the Uintah Basin!
