Every famous star has a team of stylists and designers behind the scenes and the local stars of the dino variety are no different. The Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce has recognized the team keeping Vernal’s famous roadside landmarks, Dinah and T-Rex, looking their very best. The Vernal City public facilities crew, specifically Wayne Smith, Danny Anderson, and Rhett Whitmire, have been presented with the Chamber’s Beautification Award for their work in restoring and maintaining Dinah & T-Rex. Most recently, Dinah required surgery after a drowsy driver ran off the road and the collision took off her famous tail. It took several weeks of work and careful reconstruction but Dinah’s tail was restored and she was also given a fresh coat of bubblegum pink paint to kick off the summer season right. It also wasn’t too long ago that T-Rex was the focus of a total restoration project. Donations from the public fueled the project in 2022 with completely new stucco, paint job, and bonus projects to improve the beauty and safety around the statue. Well done and thank you to Wayne Smith, Danny Anderson, and Rhett Whitmire for the behind the scenes work.
