Representative John Curtis is continuing to push on what is being called a crisis on the southern border. Last month, Curtis gave remarks during an Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Hearing about Biden Administration’s border policies and their correlation to the Fentanyl overdose crisis increasing by 300 percent as drug cartels continue to reach more and more communities. Rep. Curtis is continuing his call for Congress to do more, this time by supporting the states that are having to try and clean up what he calls the President’s mess. “It is impossible to see what is happening on the southern border and not be deeply disappointed by the humanitarian crisis, criminal gang activity, and drug trafficking,” shared Curtis in a letter submitted to the Chair of the House Committee on Appropriations on Friday. “There is a direct link between the policies of the Biden Administration and the dramatic increase in illegal border crossings.” Rep. Curtis says he will be visiting the southern border this week to monitor the situation firsthand. “Congress has the power of the purse, and we must support these states spending dollars to clean up the President’s mess. I am urging Congress to use this power to refund any state that uses their law enforcement to help secure the border.”
