The U.S. House of Representatives passed Representative John Curtis’ Colorado River Salinity Control Fix Act on Tuesday. “The Colorado River is the lifeblood of the West, and its health is crucial for our communities, our economy, and our environment,” shared Representative Curtis. “The Colorado River Salinity Control Fix Act builds on decades of collaborative efforts to reduce salinity levels, which have greatly improved water quality across the Basin. I’m grateful for the bipartisan support for this legislation.” Representative Curtis made a speech on the floor explaining the urgency of the issue, explaining the harmful effects of salt discharge into the river from natural saline rock formations. Curtis’ Act not only focuses on ensuring clean water for Utahns but also for water users across the West.
