Remember: March is Colorectal Awareness Month

by | Mar 5, 2020 | News | 0 comments

March is Colorectal Awareness Month and, if you were born in 1970 or before, it is important that you take note. Uintah Basin Healthcare reminds the Basin that colonoscopies should be done beginning at age 50. Colorectal cancer affects both men and women. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Regular screenings should start at age 50 and be done every 10 years unless you have an increased risk. Through screenings, doctors can find precancerous polyps early. You can then get them removed before they turn into cancer. Catching cancer early is when treatment is the most effective. Be sure to reach out to medical professionals and get your screening scheduled. If you do not know where to start, visit the Uintah Basin Healthcare Facebook page for suggestions of who to contact.
