Registration opens on Monday for the popular Burbot Bash hosted by the Flaming Gorge
Chamber of Commerce. The event has a lot of team members, including Utah’s DWR,
the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and U.S. Forest Service. This year’s Burbot
Bash is scheduled for January 26th through the 28th at Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The
event’s goal is to help control the reservoir’s population of burbot, which the DWR
describes as a cod-like fish that rapidly reproduces and preys on other sportfish species in
the reservoir. There are thousands of dollars in prize money given out each year. New this
year is a lake trout category aimed at helping decrease the number of small lake trout that
compete with other fish for resources. Registration for this year’s Burbot Bash opens
January 1st. Visit www.BurbotBash.com to register and for more information.
