Ashley National Forest announced this week the reopening of the Red Springs Group Campground after substantial restoration. “The campground has a brand-new facelift, with resurfacing of the campground roads and spurs, installation of new site furniture, replacement of restroom facilities, new fencing, and additional picnic tables and day-use areas,” shares the announcement. “Future improvements of the campground are still planned, including installation of a pavilion and other finish work. However, visitors are now welcome to reserve the group site for activities and camping.” The campground is located on the Vernal Ranger District off of Highway 191 between Vernal and Greendale Junction. The funding for the project comes from Title II funds through the Northeastern Utah Resource Advisory Committee, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, agreements and work with the Utah Conservation Corps, Ute Indian Tribe Youth Crew, and significant work by Forest Service employees and volunteers.
