Noone is as eager for progress on the Red Fleet renovation project than Red Fleet State
Park Manager Amanda White and while delays have made for a hard year, White remains
optimistic about the future of the park and how it will be improved to serve the public.
White made a presentation on Tuesday during the Vernal Chamber luncheon and shared
that the project is currently in a holding pattern but some upcoming meetings will
hopefully make clear what to expect in 2023. Perhaps most exciting, White shared the
proposed renovation designs but emphasized that for now it is unknown if renovations
will include just some or all of the plans proposed.
Some highlights of what she shared include: adding a road to move the day use parking to the peninsula on the far side of the swim cove, expanding and spreading out the campsites, moving the entrance station away from the main park closer to SR191, adding 3 cottage tiny homes to diversify lodging options, adding 8 individual bathroom units with showers, adding campsites to South Beach, improving safety on the boat ramp and minimizing conflicts between user groups.
White concluded by emphasizing that she will work to make sure 2023 has better
communication with the public and she stated that until there is a firm construction date,
she wants Red Fleet to remain fully open to the public.
