Everyone knows it has been a record year for snow and of course, the snow pack on Ashley National Forest is significant. To quantify what that means, here’s some of the snow totals as of last week. Hole-In-Rock had the least amount with 38 inches. Henrys Fork, Lily Lake, and Rock Creek were under 50 inches as well. Buck Pasture, Lake Fork, Spirit Lake, and Trout Creek were each around 65 inches. The areas with the most snow were Chepeta with 77 inches, Hayden Fork with 79 inches, Mosby Mountain with 82 inches, Five Points Lake with 85 inches, Brown Duck with 88 inches, Lake Fork Basin with 96 inches, and Trial Lake with 100 inches of snow. Ashley National Forest reminds patrons that there will be later access to the Forest this year as it will take longer for snow to melt and staff will need time to clear trees, clean culverts, and repair damage. All are asked to be patient to ensure safe access.
