Put A Freeze On Winter Fires

by | Nov 25, 2024 | News | 0 comments

The Duchesne Volunteer Fire Department makes it a point to educate the community on
fire safety and this week they have a message on preventing winter fires. Did you know
that 1 in every 7 home fires and 1 in every home fire deaths involve heating equipment.
The U.S. Fire Administration recommends that all have a qualified professional clean and
inspect the chimney and vents of your residence every year. If you use a stove or
fireplace, always store cooled ashes in a tightly covered metal container and keep it
outside at least 10 feet away from the home and any nearby buildings. Make safety the
top priority to prevent home fires in the winter.
